International Women’s Day – Sheffield Council

International Women’s Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day is marked on the 8th of March every year.

It is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.

Throughout International Women’s Day, Sheffield will be delivering a number of activities including:

    * Women’s Health Checks and advice on fitness and wellbeing, Town Hall on Saturday 5 March 10.00am – 12.00 noon
    * Women and Girls Multi Activity Session, Heeley (venue TBC) on Saturday 5 March 10.00am – 12.00 noon
    * Aspirations of Young Girls, Highfields Adventure Playground on Saturday 5 March 2.00pm – 4.00pm
    * Internal Women’s Day Event, Verdon Recreation Centre, on Tuesday 8 March 11.00am – 5.00pm
    * Women’s Health and Wellbeing including dance sessions, City Centre (location TBC) on Tuesday 8 March 11.00am – 2.00pm
    * Promotion of women’s activities and the opportunity to participate in a women-only gym session, Tinsley Green on Tuesday 8 March at 4.00pm
