Eleanor Kasrils was born in Scotland in 1936. Her parents moved to South Africa when Eleanor was still an infant. She was among the first women to join the ranks of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) the ANC’s armed wing in 1960 and was a leading figure in the anti-apartheid struggle.
