Leigh Soroptimists celebrate women’s 100th anniversary – 8th March 2011

Posted on: 28 February 2011

Women’s bras are in big demand in Leigh where Soroptimists are getting ready to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day.

They’re staging a fun evening and fund-raising event at the Banqueting Suite, Leigh Sports Village with a woman’s world presentation of fashion with a catwalk show, lots of shopping and retail therapy, including pampering, jewellery, handbags and chocolate.

Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust will create a display of local historical interest and Active Living will provide a Salsa session. Information on women’s health issues will also be available.

The event will bring to an end this year’s bra collection for Breakthrough Breast Cancer so women are being invited to bring along a bra to donate to the collection and help “Bridge the World” with bras stretching from Leigh Bridge to Sydney Harbour Bridge via Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco.

Tickets for the March 8 event are £5 available from Soroptimists, Seddons Opticians in Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley, Shuffs Ladieswear in Boothstown, or online from http://sileigh.co.uk/itsawomansworld.aspx
